  1. As a teacher of the Hearing Impaired I feel this is a medical and educational necessity and MUST be passed.

      • I agree. Everyone should have a chance to hear what is going on in this world. It is so sad that insurance companies won’t cover this but do cover so many other unnessary items like Viagra. Hopefully if children can get coverage it can help lead to adults too. I just hope that the politicians will do what is right and not what the money they have received from insurance companies demand.

  2. Hearing aids are NOT cosmetic. They perform a real function and help children learn proper language skills. I think hearing aid insurance should be enacted. Sue Ledeboer

  3. Wow. I’m shocked that this is the current standing of this issue. Kids OF COURSE need to be able to hear correctly for more than just educationally developmental reasons. Cosmetic? Unbelievable. Please consider requiring insurance companies to do the right thing by covering such devices, and their corresponding testing/treatments. As a parent, I would be irate if my child were in this position and I had no ability to help him/her because of the lack of insurance coverage and the astronomical costs.

  4. It is an incredible thing to think that we need to justify a need for hearing aides as a medical necessity. I believe change happens when enough people are willing to stand and say “enough.” Hearing loss is a medical condition and deserves medical attention.

I also feel the insurance companies should pay for this. IT IS NOT cosmetic. IT IS A NESSESITY!!!!!!!

  6. Maybe it is time for those who think hearing aids are not needed or “cosmetic” to spend a day not hearing. It would change their minds!
