We are a group of private citizens from Illinois who want to bring about change in our state to give equal opportunity to all children who have hearing loss. Other members of our group may include audiologists, speech/language pathologists, and other professionals who support the cause. But this group is founded and supported by immediate caregivers of children who have a hearing loss that could impact their daily living if not cared for properly.
I have a child with hearing loss. I would love to receive any information I can as well as help if at all possible!
Let kids hear!
Please get this done!
My husband, two teenage kids, and I just adopted a boy with bilateral hearing loss. He is a little over two years old. We adopted him because we thought that being in the USA would bring him the medical treatment that he deserves. He has not received QUALITY hearing aids. He needs hearing aids to help him be functional in our home. He DESERVES it. He has been in an orphanage for 2.5 years and has the speech of a 6 month old (babbling) because he was never given hearing aids. Now that he is in the States, he STILL will not get the quality aids that he deserves. Illinois needs to step up! Are we really as “bad” as the international countries that give up on the children that need help the MOST? Our son mimics our actions every time we move. What could he “imitate” if he could actually HEAR us with quality aids? Yes, he can get hearing aids with our insurance, However, they Are NOT the aids he NEEDS! The aids he NEEDS, Illinois insurance will not cover. Illinois politicians, HELP!!!!!!!!
My son needs and deserves good hearing aids so he can develop speech like the rest of the children his age. He has lived his life in a place where no one spoke to him because they thought he was “disabled.” He is NOT disabled! He is smart! In the two weeks that we have had him, he has learned 10 ASL signs and has 5 spoken English words!!! (English is not his native tongue.) He NEEDS hearing aids that will help him HEAR. He has suffered enogh. His parents gave him up because he was Deaf, his ears look different than everyone else’s but he CAN hear, speak , and contribute A LOT to society if he had QUALITY hearing aids!
I think I can help. Send me an email and I will get back with you.
Every child deserves to hear…nothing cosmetic about it…Every child deserves to hear!
Please make hearing aids available thru insurance… Hearing is not cosmetic. Thanks!
Please let these kids hear. What else can we do?
I am the parent of two deaf children and would love to support hearing services for deaf or hearing impaired children getting their insurance needs met! It is sad that we pay hundreds of dollars for insurance that wont cover our children’s basic needs!!
This has my support!
Hearing is a necessity for everyone so they should be provided by insurance, especially for children. Eyeglasses are much more cosmetic than hearing aids, yet insurance covers those. Just another insane reason not to live in Illinois.
Every child deserves to hear!
I have a son that was born with hearing loss and wears an aid in one ear. Every child deserves to be able hear and to develop alongside his/her peers. I’m proud to offer my name and any support I can give.
You have my support!
Every Child, Every Day! You have my support.
Hearing aids are not cosmetic…
I support you in your effort to allow all children the opportunity to a positive learning environment,
Hearing aides should be covered by insurance. This is a necessity, not a fashion.
Hearing aids are not cosmetic…
Outstanding work! I would give my time and effort to support this cause. Please contact me!
This is a very dear subject for me as my daughter was born with hearing loss. She has a cochlear implant on one side and a hearing aide on the other. There are many things inc. wont cover for the cochlear as well. A cochlear is NOT water proof!! so when my 3 year old daugher wants her bath or to play at the pool she cannot hear anything which makes it very dangerous. Now there is a water proof cochlear out but inc. wont cover a cent of it beacuse it is cosmetic?? i think it is a need for my child to hear when there is water around wether it be the bath or the pool or even running through the parking lot to the car in the rain. As a single mom its very had to afford an $9000 cochlear on your own and i feel inc. should help cover some of it.
Hearing aides are a medical necessity not a cosmetic fix. All insurance companies should be required to cover hearing aides.
Am here in support of all those in need of this change to happen. Pleading with our gov. to listen and hear us all and make it happen so that others can listen and HEAR as well. Willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish this.
Please help our future adult citizens.
I certainly hope that they realize the importance of hearing aids are detrimental in the quality of one’s life. By far it does not serve any cosmetic purposes, but rather alter one’s own self image in terms of beauty. Why deny someone glasses if they were visually impaired? And they deny the priviliege to deaf and hard of hearing children or adults who wants to be able to hear and fit in the norms of society??
This is not something that is just wanted – it’s a necessary device to help a child or person hear. Please put yourselves in their shoes and walk a mile………….
Long over due.
Please help and support this cause……
Help those kids!
Our 9 week old son was diagnosed with a bilateral hearing loss and needs hearing aids. We are looking for a support network to help us get moving in the right direction. I would love to talk to any parents out there who have been through this and have some suggestions.
